So today I took Seven to get evaluated for a new daycare facility. It’s a short drive from the house, it’s a larger facility, and they offer longer packages at lower prices.

He passed the evaluation with flying colors and seemed to be having a good time, so I left him there for half a day to make a few friends and get used to the new handlers.

His last day at the old place will be next Tuesday. They were great and I do not have a bad thing to say about them. It’s going to be a little awkward letting them know he won’t be re-upping there, but I’m sure it will all work out.

It’s 7:00 and you just get on shift. Someone plays “Sex on fire”. Thirty minutes pass and a new group of people come in, order drinks, and get change for the jukebox to play “sex on fire”. Repeat this cycle until last call at 4AM (in NY) and you can quickly discover why every bartender that has a remote control for the jukebox ALSO has a list. Just because you may be hearing it for the first time tonight, doesn’t mean we haven’t heard it four times already before you even came in.

In the ass-end of nowhere, Calgary, is a little dark room filled with taxidermic gophers. Seventy one to be exact, snuffed and stuffed, then dressed up and posed in 44 little scenarios. A Pennywise-esque clown with a red nose and neck ruffle clutches a bunch of balloons in its furry paws. A Sandra D, complete with poodle skirt, stares into the cold, unblinking eyes of her Danny under a full moon. A haughty Lutheran reverend steps up to the podium while his choirboy sleeps and a rodenty angel circles above his head. This is the “World Famous” Torrington Gopher Hole Museum, and I’ve been wanting to go for ages.
